  My Portland
My Portland
Here's a drawing that is going to be in the Portland Funbook 3, as well as the basis for a piece in my art show in a slightly different, painted form.

  Works In Progress: Radio Skull!
Ok, so I'm working like crazy on my art show which opens in Sept. at the Pony Club, and one of the things I'm doing is filling up a wall with small works, priced to (hopefully) sell. I thought it'd be interesting to show you the process I went through to make one of them.
(WiP) radio_skull
I started with this drawing, just kind of doodling out of my head, thinking about Flemmish Portraiture and Moebius or something, and came out with this result.. I liked the face OK, but I didn't LOVE it.. So when I was painting I made some adjustments and came up with this:
Radio Skull, Framed
I wish I'd scanned it in at some point midway through painting, just in case anyone wanted to see what a half-assed gouache approach I have.. Anyhow, the finished piece, complete with glowing blue skull! This and much more will be available for sale and perusal at my show in Sept.

  Eagles Be Barfin'
Tube Ad, portland mercury Eat and Drink Guide 2008
More work for hire, for the bar I work for. This is going to be in print in the Mercury's Eat and Drink Guide 2008. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, I scanned in the eagle from an old comic advert (for the bicentennial!) and did the rest by hand on the wacom tablet. I do wish I'd taken the time/thought to hand trace the fonts to integrate them more in with all the textured drawing and stuff, but oh well. Next time.

Every time something I do gets printed in a wide-spread publication, I get kind of goofily excited, and this is probably the most exciting one yet- It'll be in an insert in every mercury on the streets and most likely held on to for a while by most people, so more people will see this than saw my comic book! haha. sigh.
